I don’t know if it’s the fact that the leaves have started falling or that my heat has started coming on in the early mornings…but I’ve realized it’s time to pull out the knits. I think quite possibly that I might have a wee bit of Outlander on the brain. What’s that you say? Outlander? It’s the new show on Starz based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon. I might just be watching it for the handsome leading man who sports a kilt and makes everything beautiful with his SCOTTISH ACCENT, but I also really love the fact that there is a strong role for the female lead. One of my favorite parts about the show is the wardrobe. The costume department has done an amazing job. The plaids! The woolens! The KNITS!! In fact, the costume designer for the show, Terry Dresbach only had seven weeks to compile the wardrobe and had to consider the draftiness of castles and filming outdoors and thought to add knitted shawls, scarves and shrugs to the main character, Claire’s wardrobe. The coolest part is that Ms Dresbach thought to enlist the help of Scottish woolen mills and Scottish Etsy artisans to make the knits. Truly authentic…and such a huge hit that all of the knits are already sold out on the Etsy sites. (see the article here)
The knits of Outlander…most are sold out but the vendors are listed here.
