There aren’t a whole lot of female street artists out there, so Swoon is a rarity. Her real name is Caledonia Dance Curry and she studied art at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. If you were to judge a person by their name you’d imagine that Swoon was born to hippy parents, made daisy chains in fields as a child and then went on to the art world of New York city. But, as we all know, life is never what it seems. In her video below, she offers a candid look into her childhood, explaining her passion for art and how it was the one thing in her life that was solid and unconditional. I enjoyed every second of this video and came to really like the artist that is Swoon, especially in this week where we lost Philip Seymour Hoffman and we’re all left wondering how that could happen.
Here’s one more if you’d like to know even more about Callie and her work.
