It’s been a good six months since my last recommendations so I thought I’d share some more great books with you…especially since summer vacations and long beach days are ahead of us!
When I Found You – Catherine Ryan Hyde
This book is about a baby that is found by a duck hunter in the woods, abandoned. The duck hunter is one VERY special man that immediately forms a bond with the infant and the story takes off from there. I really loved this book, the relationship between the two characters is one of the strongest I’ve come across in awhile and it’s truly beautiful.
All the Light We Cannot See – Anthony Doerr
This is a masterpiece…one of the best books I’ve read in awhile and the whole time reading it I could see a movie playing out in my head. It’s a war story but one that is unique and SO well told. I think this was my favorite book of the year.
The Girl on the Train – Paula Hawkins
If you liked Gone Girl, then you will like the Girl on the Train. It starts with a mystery, then a murder, and it all unfolds as the main character pieces it together and discovers that things are not always what they seem.
Big Little Lies -Liane Moriarty
Ms Moriarty is a master at writing…her books are always entertaining and easy to read. It takes place in Australia, centered around moms who all have kids in the same class. There’s also a murder at the beginning and as the book unfolds you learn more and more about each mom in the story. Everyone I’ve recommended this to has really enjoyed it.
What Alice Forgot – Liane Moriarty
This is also another easy read by Ms Moriarty. Alice heads to her spin class one day, only to fall and hit her head. When she comes to, she cannot remember the last ten years of her life and as she starts to put the pieces together she starts to realize that she is not entirely happy with the person she has become.
The Rosie Project – Graeme Simsion
This is a nice book about love and transformation. If you think that it’s not possible for people to change then you need to read this book. The main character lives a very rigid existence, until Rosie enters his life, and things start to change for the better.
